Endometrial biopsy is an office-based method for evaluating the tissue lining the uterus. There are a number of indications for which the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists recommends endometrial evaluation. This video will demonstrate the technique of endometrial biopsy. The many indications for endometrial biopsy include abnormal uterine bleeding, postmenopausal bleeding, and amenorrhea for a year or longer. Additional indications include endometrial dating to define the phase of the menstrual cycle, evaluation of infertility, and evaluation of uterine response to hormone . </td>

        <td valign="top">
        <a href="http://www.cancervideo.tv/video/36DU1382A94X/Mammography">Mammography</a><br />
Mammography is the process of using low-dose amplitude-X-rays (usually around 0.7 mSv) to examine the human breast and is used as a diagnostic and a screening tool. The goal of mammography is the early detection of breast cancer, typically through detection of characteristic masses and/or microcalcifications. Mammography is believed to reduce mortality from breast cancer. No other imaging technique has been shown to reduce risk, but breast self-examination (BSE) and physician examination are considered essential parts of regular breast care.

In many countries routine mammography of older women is encouraged as a screening method to diagnose early breast cancer. The United States Preventive Services Task Force recommends screening mammography, with or without clinical breast examination, every 2 years for women aged 50 to 74.[1] Altogether clinical trials have found a relative reduction in breast cancer mortality of 20%, but the two highest-quality trials found no reduction in mortality.[2] Mammograms have been controversial since 2000, when a paper highlighting the results of the two highest-quality studies was published.[3]

Like all x-rays, mammograms use doses of ionizing radiation to create images. Radiologists then analyze the image for any abnormal findings. It is normal to use longer wavelength X-rays (typically Mo-K) than those used for radiography of bones.

At this time, mammography along with physical breast examination is the modality of choice for screening for early breast cancer. Ultrasound, ductography, positron emission mammography (PEM), and magnetic resonance imaging are adjuncts to mammography. Ultrasound is typically used for further evaluation of masses found on mammography or palpable masses not seen on mammograms. Ductograms are still used in some institutions for evaluation of bloody nipple discharge when the mammogram is non-diagnostic. MRI can be useful for further evaluation of questionable findings as well as for screening pre-surgical evaluation in patients with known breast cancer to detect any additional lesions that might change the surgical approach, for instance from breast-conserving lumpectomy to mastectomy. New procedures, not yet approved for use in the general public, including breast tomosynthesis may offer benefits in years to come.

Mammography has a false-negative (missed cancer) rate of at least 10 percent. This is partly due to dense tissues obscuring the cancer and the fact that the appearance of cancer on mammograms has a large overlap with the appearance of normal tissues. </td>

        <a href="http://www.cancervideo.tv/video/UGMA414RHW8X/Appendix-Cancer-Surgery">Appendix Cancer Surgery</a><br />
Medical tourism will assist you for a qualitative appendix cancer surgery in India. Appendix cancer or appendiceal cancer is a malignancy of the vermiform appendix, accounting for about 1 in 200 of all gastrointestinal malignancies. This is a very rare condition and can vary in type, the most common type being carcinoid tumor. The treatment the doctors usually prescribe is the removal of the appendix through an appendectomy. In some cases, they perform laparoscopy, a minimally invasive surgical procedure using specially designed scopes and instruments. Cancer of the appendix rarely occurs and it is staged and treated as a colon cancer. Right-sided colon cancers often have a poorer prognosis as they present symptoms later than in other parts of the colon, but this is not often the case with appendiceal cancers. These patients usually present as if they have appendicitis and the tumor is found on ultrasound or CT and the patient goes right into surgery. If there is any possibility of spread other tests will be done to determine that. Most cancers are serious, but you need to know the stage to know how serious it is. Appendix cancer surgery in India at less minimal price would cure you of appendix cancer and appendix tumors from the most talented Indian cancer surgeons with all medically modern healthcare facilities. Different types of head and neck cancers can include cancers of the throat, mouth, larynx, thyroid, and skin. In this podcast, Dr. Scott E. Strome from the University of Maryland Medical Center discusses head and neck cancer causes and treatments.

Dr. Strome first addresses the fact that, while smoking has been linked to some head and neck cancers, doctors are now seeing an increase in these types of cancers among people who do not smoke. Some of these cancers, Dr. Strome suggests, may be associated with the human papilloma virus, which is also known to cause cervical cancer.

Speaking with Karen Warmkessel, Dr. Strome, a surgical oncologist, concludes his discussion by describing the range of treatment options available for patients and the multidisciplinary treatment approach specific to the University of Maryland Marlene and Stewart Greenebaum Cancer Center.

About the Expert:
Dr. Scott E. Strome is professor and chairman of the Department of Otorhinolaryngology (ear, nose and throat) at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He is also the chief of Otorhinolaryngology at the University of Maryland Medical Center. </td>

Then, after you're asleep, your doctor will make a small, vertical incision in your navel.
Using a pair of small retractors, the surgeon will gently open the incision and divide the exposed tissues.
Sutures resembling a purse string are placed in the skin around the navel.
Next, a special instrument called a Hassan Trocar is inserted through the opening in the navel.
The purse string sutures are pulled, causing the skin to tighten around the instrument. This creates an airtight seal. Medical Malpractice
The team then connects the Trocar to a small hose ...

... in order to inflate the abdomen with carbon dioxide. This serves to enlarge the internal work area and to separate the organs.
They will make three or more incisions into the abdomen, with care taken to keep the openings as small as possible.
Next, the laparoscope is carefully inserted into the Hassan Trocar. Once the laparoscope is in place, it will provide video images to allow the placement of additional instruments.
The surgeon will then locate and retract the liver to identify the gallbladder.
Next, the surgeon removes the connecting tissue in order to expose the cystic duct and the cystic artery... Medical Malpractice
Using clips, the surgical teams clamps off both the duct and artery
which are later cut to prepare the gallbladder for removal. ...
Finally, any remaining tissue connecting the gallbladder to the liver is cut...
The gallbladders is moved into the laparoscopic working port
where it is taken out of the body.
Then the instruments are withdrawn...
the carbon dioxide is allowed to escape...
the muscle layers and other tissues are sewn together...
and the skin is closed with sutures or staples.
Finally, a sterile dressing is applied. </td>

        <a href="http://www.cancervideo.tv/video/92HHB464KSA5/Colon-Rectal-Cancer">Colon Rectal Cancer</a><br />
Colorectal cancer, also called colon cancer or large bowel cancer, includes cancerous growths in the colon, rectum and appendix. With 655,000 deaths worldwide per year, it is the fourth most common form of cancer in the United States and the third leading cause of cancer-related death in the Western world. Colorectal cancers arise from adenomatous polyps in the colon. These mushroom-shaped growths are usually benign, but some develop into cancer over time. Localized colon cancer is usually diagnosed through colonoscopy.

Invasive cancers that are confined within the wall of the colon (TNM stages I and II) are curable with surgery. If untreated, they spread to regional lymph nodes (stage III), where up to 73% are curable by surgery and chemotherapy. Cancer that metastasizes to distant sites (stage IV) is usually not curable, although chemotherapy can extend survival, and in rare cases, surgery and chemotherapy together have seen patients through to a cure. Radiation is used with rectal cancer.

On the cellular and molecular level, colorectal cancer starts with a mutation to the Wnt signaling pathway. When Wnt binds to a receptor on the cell, that sets in motion a chain of molecular events that ends with β-catenin moving into the nucleus and activating a gene on DNA. In colorectal cancer, genes along this chain are damaged. Usually, a gene called APC, which is a &quot;brake&quot; on the Wnt pathway, is damaged. Without a working APC brake, the Wnt pathway is stuck in the &quot;on&quot; position. </td>

The notion that ovarian cancer is a silent killer without early warning signs has changed.

The Gynecologic Cancer Foundation has announced a national consensus on symptoms for ovarian cancer. Symptoms that women should consider as warning signs include: bloating, pelvic or abdominal pain, difficulty eating or feeling full quickly, and frequent or urgent urination. If women have these symptoms daily over the course of several weeks they should consult with a gynecologist about them, particularly if the symptoms are new or unusual. </td>
